Sort Of Naturals “Top Ten Albums of 2010″

8 Dec

Here it is… A list of what I liked in music for 2010. Figured I would do the whole top ten thing. This will not be based off some kind of recommendation of musical quality, but rather the amount of liking I had toward the album.
So here they are in order of … personal likeyness. (including a youtube clip of my favorite song from each)

10. Young Man “Boy” EP

Album of enjoyable light enjoyableness.

9. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti “Before Today”

Out of the bedroom… Still lovely.

8. Yeasayer “Odd Blood”

Upon first listen I planned no second listen. Now this is the boppy bloopy soundtrack of my weekends.

7. Deerhunter “Halcyon Digest”

Can we all agree that Bradford Cox is a raging genius.

6. Mountain Man “Made Of Harbor”

Molly, Alexander, and Amelia are angels… vocal angels.

5. Beach House “Teen Dream”

The thickest most inviting wall of sound you’ll find.

4. The Tallest Man On Earth “The Wild Hunt”

Bob who?

3. Arcade Fire “The Suburbs”

Bahbabaabababaaaaa… the band of our time does it again.

2. Avey Tare “Down There”

Listen front to back or your missing the point(don’t ask me what the point is).

1. The Walkmen “Lisbon”

Sparse and wonderful. Full and flourishing.

I listened through all of the videos you posted, and here are my short thoughts on each, I’ll write each one after each listen.

    10. His voice ounds a lot like Paul Simon to me. I love Paul. This was nice, very relaxing but not boring.

    9. Seemed like it might be good stuff, however live recordings are usually hard for me listen to if I don’t already know the artist.

    8. I LOVE THIS.

    7. Makes me want to go swimming in the ocean. Or maybe just sit in it. I’ve been hearing about this band, so I know I can get the album for free, and I certainly will. Looking forward to hearing more!

    6. Not sure why, but I don’t like it.

    5. I recognized this song right away! Now I can’t wait to get the album. I love it, although I hadn’t heard it until today; I had only heard my boyfriend cover it on Mandolin. Here is a link the cover him and his music mate, Rob did: http://www.paperforthepen.com/videos/walk-in-the-park-live-co-op-07022010/

    4. I’m going to listen to more on the interwebz. Enjoyed.

    3. This is the only album I have that is on your list, and I think how I found your flickr. They made a fine delivery. My favorite song is Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains).

    2. I’ve heard a song from this album, before, it obviously has a unique sound, but I recognized it from the crocodile cover. I’ll listen again sometime, but I’m not into it so far.

    1. I really like the drumline, and the song in general. I will check more of this out :)

    Thanks for sharing your favorites!
